FIRST AID BEAUTY
BOOK DESIGN, PRINT, REBRANDING
REBRAND
The goal was to redesign an existing product. I chose the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Firming Collagen Cream because its box lacked appeal and was not eye-catching for buyers; I even struggled to find the product in Ulta. The original design of the box featured a blue color with silver stripes and was very text-heavy. To improve it, I reduced the amount of text, removed the French text, and kept only the English. I redesigned the color scheme to a lighter blue and used yellow and orange as accent colors to give it a fun and youthful look. Using the star from the logo as a guiding tool, I flipped it around the box. Additionally, I added images of the cream on the side of the box so buyers could see the product.
THE APPROACH
FINDING A PRODUCT
To find the best product to redesign, I visited multiple stores and compared various types of skincare products, including well-known ones, expensive ones, cheap ones, and lesser-known brands. Eventually, I landed on First Aid Beauty skincare products.
BRAND
First Aid Beauty is a brand that emphasizes taking care of your skin with clean ingredients that are dermatologist-approved. It aims to provide youthful-looking skin while also improving its overall condition.
DIGITAL & PRINT PACKAGING
A fluid grid system was implemented to create a flexible and proportionate layout that adjusts seamlessly to different screen sizes, maintaining visual consistency across devices.
The direction I took with my redesign was to focus on the ingredients in the cream to give people a reason to try out and test the product. Additionally, I showcased the actual cream on the side of the box and stated its benefits for making your skin look youthful.
On the far left is the redesigned packaging, and in the middle is the old packaging. I decided to keep the blue color, but I darkened it and added yellow and orange contrasts, highlighting the stars more throughout the package.
At the bottom, there’s a design brief that accompanies the redesigned packaging.
